At Google, we’ve always used open source to innovate. We want to give something back; we enjoy being a part of the community. Free and open source software has been part of Google's technical and organizational foundation since the beginning. We've launched a new website for Google Open Source that ties together all of our initiatives with information on how we use, release, and support open source.

Introducing Abseil, a new common libraries project[]
We've open sourced Abseil, a collection of libraries that are the nuts-and-bolts that underpin almost everything that Google runs. Bits and pieces of these APIs are embedded in most of our open source projects, and now we have brought them together into one comprehensive project.
